In Brazil, October 17th is dedicated to recognizing the importance of electricians, professionals who guarantee access to energy, transforming it into comfort and development. This year, Energisa is using the occasion to celebrate its advances in the inclusion of women and the training of new talents.

The Brazilian electricity sector currently employs more than 129,000 people. Energisa has been working to promote diversity and inclusion, offering training courses in partnership with Senai with classes exclusively for women and also for people with disabilities.

Edna Silva Sousa Santiago is one of the women who took advantage of this opportunity to change the direction of her career. She was working in the tourism sector when she took the Power Plant Operator and Electrotechnical courses in 2022, and fell in love with the area. Since 2023, she has worked as a distribution electrician for Energisa Tocantins and shares her pride at working in an area that is still predominantly male:

Being a woman in the electricity sector is an honor and a dream come true," says Edna.

The profession can be physically demanding, requiring technical precision and a constant commitment to safety, but it is rewarded on a daily basis by teamwork and solidarity among electricians.

Sometimes, even the heaviest jobs are overcome with the help of other fellow electricians. Working as a team, we overcome all obstacles, as well as ensuring safety when carrying out the work," adds Edna.

In Mato Grosso, Energisa has also invested heavily in training electricians, especially in regions with a high demand for skilled labor. In 2024, more than a thousand electricians were hired by the company, most of whom were trained through courses offered in partnership with Senai.

In this model, Energisa first hires the employee as an electrician's assistant. Once they are working in the area, they are paid to study technical and safety training courses and are fully trained to work in the market.

This effort, both in training and hiring, has allowed the company to meet growing demand and continue to innovate in the electrical services area, while promoting inclusion and diversity.

We have already made significant progress in the various positions and areas. Today, we have gender diversity in all areas, including operational and field activities," says Silvana Carvalho, HR Business Partner at Energisa Tocantins.

With the electricity sector booming, Energisa is always on the lookout for new talent. The company has open positions for electricians all over Brazil, with opportunities that include technical training and safety offered by the company itself. In addition to remuneration, the professionals hired also receive benefits that include health and dental insurance, participation in company profits, transport vouchers, food vouchers, Gympass, among others.
