Training technology professionals in the Zona da Mata region of Minas Gerais with the aim of transforming the region into a technological hub, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship: this is the mission of Rio Pomba Valley, a project conceived by the Energisa Institute that is now in its third year.

The programmer training course is becoming increasingly robust. In the first year, separate courses were offered in the back end and front end areas, each with 360 class hours, training 35 programmers. In the second year, the format was expanded to full stack, encompassing both areas in a 760-hour course focused on practical challenges and real applications. In this next cycle of the project, a complete technical course in systems development will be offered for the first time, certified by the MEC, with 1,200 hours of face-to-face classes over one and a half years at Senai in Cataguases. At the end of the course, the students graduate ready for the job market - and some of them are hired by Energisa itself.

Registration begins on July 1 and runs until July 21, on the website https://trabalheconosco.vagas.com.br/rpv-energisa. Classes are scheduled to begin on September 16, in the evening. Applicants must be aged 16 or over and must live in the Zona da Mata region of Minas Gerais. The courses will be 100% funded by Energisa.

One of the students who has already passed the course is Wellington Luiz Santos Murito, who was part of the front end class in the first cycle of the project. He tells us how the course has made a difference to his professional life:

Taking part in Rio Pomba Valley marked a crucial moment in my professional career, I acquired valuable technical knowledge and it opened doors to the job market. My profession today, a direct result of this learning, solidifies the importance of initiatives to develop talent in the technology area. As well as technical knowledge, I take with me friendships, inspiring mentors and the certainty that I am capable of achieving any goal. I thank everyone who has been part of this journey and I hope to give something back by helping other young people to follow the same path to success."

As well as offering professional training, the Rio Pomba Valley seeks to foster spaces for connections, networking and professional development, providing interaction for the creation of businesses, jobs and opportunities in the Zona da Mata. Find out more about Rio Pomba Valley:
